Investing in a few lengths of rope can create almost endless ways to take sexual control of your partner. By using rope in your bondage, you get a versatile tool that can be used as a blindfold, for gags, and as a whip. If you have used the rope to tie up your partner, you can loosen it the next second and use it for something else.
Rope comes in different lengths, colors, and materials. Have a look around and choose the one that suits you best. See all rope here.
When you are starting with bondage
The most important thing to remember when engaging in any form of bondage is to think about safety and understand the basic techniques; then you can get started. We recommend taking things slowly to gain a full understanding of the techniques and sensations bondage should provide. Good communication with your partner before, as well as during, every session is essential for knowing that everything feels safe and good.
Here are 4 tips that we recommend you take seriously:
1. Rules.
Establish ground rules with your partner. Before you begin, have an open and honest dialogue about which roles you want to take. Will only one of you do the tying, or is it something you both want to try? Discuss which positions you want to test and any other questions or concerns.
2. Safe words.
Using some form of safe word, or showing your partner that something feels uncomfortable, is extremely important in bondage so you can quickly and easily communicate that something does not feel right during play. Bondage is based on trust and mutual consent. Every bondage practitioner should have at least one word that signals when the session is heading in the wrong direction. The word yellow is most commonly used within BDSM and signals that you are approaching a boundary and should ease up or change direction.
3. Be gentle.
Start slowly and carefully, and do not rush! Begin with simple knots and tying techniques. Feel your way through what feels good (and less good) before moving on if you want to try more. Listen to and tune in to each other. Bondage can become incredibly powerful and sensual between partners.
4. Understand the risks.
All forms of sexual activity carry a risk of injury if not handled responsibly. As you read above, small steps are the way forward. Practicing bondage at a higher level requires practice. Although bondage can seem fun and exciting, it is extremely important to know the risks. When playing with rope and tying someone else up, you need to bring respect, knowledge, and understanding with you. If you do not know what you are doing, there is a risk of restricted circulation and nerve damage. Prioritize communication and safety so that all activities are handled and carried out safely, healthily, and mutually for everyone involved. Have fun and be careful!
Once you have tried it and want to continue experimenting, it is important to establish what you liked and disliked in order to create a fun and enriching experience before exploring further.
We also recommend watching plenty of videos, browsing through images, and reading up on the methods you are curious about. Take your time, investigate, and think through what expectations you have.
